Conor Byrne Pub

DESCRIPTION Irish music from 7-9 with an open session to follow. Featuring Ballard group Expecting… Corrupted by an early encounter with a Chieftains cassette, Matthew grew up studying fiddle with members of the '90s/'00s Irish scene centered around Conor Byrne's pub. After finding fiddle a bit too dignified, he took up tenor banjo and (later) viola. Matthew may be distinguished from other similarly named banjoists by his love of obscure tunes and long hair. Making his concert debut on the concertina, Zach Burke is a dedicated collector of rare tunes and seldom-heard variations. His principal joy in life is curating the perfect setlist, to the exclusion of practicality and deadlines. Although his modesty would force him to deny it, Lennart Jansson has quickly become one of the PNW's most promising fiddle and uilleann pipe players. He's also a fine hand on the concertina and lesser-known bowed instruments. However, absolutely none of that is relevant for this show, in which he'll be making his debut as a guitarist. Joining us from San Diego's sunny shores, Nick Monte may or may not have ridden a Vespa all the way here with a tenor banjo on his knee. Regardless of his mode of transport, we're excited for his second appearance on the Conor Byrne stage.
