10.8 Thursday (EDM) Hidden Hall presents: Bluetech Asher Fulero:Worlds Live Ovoid 7:30pm doors 8pm show 21+ Hidden Hall 400 N 35th St hiddenhall.com ASHER FULERO : WORLDS LIVEPortland-based keyboardist/producer Asher Fulero has been a go-to collaborator for an incredibly diverse array of artists across genres, from atmospheric EDM legend Emancipator and Rap genius Aesop Rock to shred-guitar hero Paul Gilbert and Jamgrass pioneers Yonder Mountain String Band (and many, many more), all while simultaneously growing his own widely-diverse arsenal of top-notch original performing projects and composing nearly 50 genre-spanning albums of accomplished original music over the last 25 years.Released in November 2024, Fulero’s LP ‘Worlds’ crosses influences from Downtempo IDM, Indie Live-electronic & Post-Rock into a polished mix of emotionally powerful instrumental overtures blending the texture of real instruments with patient studio production magic. On October 9th 2026, Fulero will release ‘Otherworlds’, a remix album containing 9 reworked versions of the original pieces by amazing remixers including Kilowatts, Erothyme, Devin Kroes, ETHNO, Ovoid, and more. The first single, a remix by downtempo/hiphop legend Blockhead, releases on Friday August 14th.The ‘Worlds: Live’ show expertly recreates the studio pieces and mashes them up with remixes from the forthcoming ‘Otherworlds’ remix album, mixing in a few selections from Fulero’s previous EDM alter-ego Halo Refuser realized with live instrumentation for the first time, sometimes with Fulero alone on electric bass, keyboards, and laptop, and other times with the full four-piece band which includes Brett McConnell on lap steel, Dan Duval on electric & acoustic guitars, and Chelsea Luker on saxophone/flute. “With this ambitious amalgam of hi-fidelity beat tape and downtempo IDM soundscapes, the renowned keyboardist/producer masterfully blends a minimalist indie aesthetic with copious instrumental virtuosity, resulting in a kaleidoscopic caravan. Nodding to pioneering producers in similar sonic spaces like Emancipator, Tycho, & Bonobo, plus legendary Chicago post-rock scions Tortoise, the emotional quotient reliably rises to the surface, and is discernible early and often. Breakbeat snares, R&B rimshots, and bulbous basslines set a meditative framework, then course-correct into the background, thoughtfully tapered away to make room for more gossamer sounds such as flute, steel guitar, Fender Rhodes, or acoustic piano.
