First Thursday Pioneer Square Art Walk Afterparty JACQUELINE TABOR - - - (Seattle // Jazz / Soul Vocalist) https://taborjazz.com/ Jacqueline Tabor, also known as the “Seattle Chanteuse” whose sultry alto voice contains style, passion and sophistication. expressive, memorable approach to music enchants audiences with powerful tones and dynamic style. Northwest vocalist discovered jazz when she was a kid watching old movies on TV. She dug the black-and-white films noir that featured beautiful women in gowns singing jazz in dark, smoky nightclubs—she wanted to grow up to do that. Tabor’s performances that capture emotional depth and authenticity, while drawing inspiration from artists such as Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Sarah Vaughn. Additionally, she has been a guest artist for the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra since 2019. She is Board Member of KNKX and also the North City Jazz Walk where she uses her strong sense of social justice to advocate for equity in the arts. Tabor is an award-winning Vocalist that pursues Jazz, Blues and Swing vocalist who was recently inducted in Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame by Earshot this past March. She has claimed the prestigious Earshot Jazz Vocalist of the Year award on four occasions and has been honored with the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association Award for her remarkable contributions to cultural exchange. Concert of the Year in 2022 for Don’t Explain an exquisite collaboration with Internationally acclaimed pianist Marina Albero. They will be releasing an album on May 20 at the Triple Door. Dancing you may ask? It started with a conversation with Robin Harrison about learning the roots of the Lindy Hop and LaTasha Barnes’ She considers herself an ongoing student of dance- who studied Swing it Seattle during the pandemic. Tabor quietly takes lessons and wants to grow and a shaker and a mover. To be able to combine both talents is a dream come true. Her voice is blatantly honest and unfiltered and reflective of her lifelong story, her fears and courage, and the realization of her profound strength and confidence in her art.
